Sabancı University gives a clear message to foreign students at 6 fairs in 4 countries: “Your future begins in Istanbul.”

The Sabancı University International Relations Office took part in 6 fairs held in 4 countries to promote Sabancı University and to discuss joint efforts with institutions in various universities.

The International Relations Office attended international education fairs in Azerbaijan, Egypt, Morocco and Kazakhstan in October, where they introduced Sabancı University to secondary school, undergraduate and graduate students, and gave information about the interdisciplinary curriculum of the university and other facilities including SU-NUM, the finance laboratory CAFE, and visual arts studios.  The message given to students was that they should begin their future in Istanbul, at Sabancı University.

Discussions with Azerbaijan Technical University
In addition to attending the education fair in Azerbaijan, the International Relations Office joined the Consul-General of Turkey Hulusi Kılıç and Education Advisor Halis Koyuncuoğlu for visits where commercial and cultural relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan, trade volumes, Azeri education system, scholarship policies and schools and corporations open to cooperation agreements were discussed.  Also visited was the Azerbaijan Technical University.  Negotiations were held with Teaching Department Pro-Rector Khaliq M. Yahudov, Head of International Relations Department Natig Alemdaroglu Ahmedov and Laboratory Director Arif Memedov for possible cooperation opportunities.

Following the event in Azerbaijan was an international education fair in Cairo, Egypt.  Sabancı University and five other Turkish universities attended the fair.  1500 students visited the Sabancı University stand during the two days, and received information about the method of instruction at Sabancı University, scholarship opportunities and facilities.  Egyptian universities were also very interested in the Sabancı University stand.  International Relations Office Director Dr. Ekin Burak Arıkan gave a speech titled “Why Study in Turkey? Perspectives on Turkish Higher Education” at a seminar held during the fair.

Also held during October were international education fairs in Casablanca and Marrakech, Morocco.  3500 students visited the Sabancı University stand for information.

The last event in October was an education fair in Kazakhstan.  More than 100 schools from 15 countries including Kazakhstan, UK, Turkey, Canada and the USA took part in the fair, with 5 schools from Turkey attending.  6500 students visited the Sabancı University stand during the three days.

In addition to taking part in the fair, the International Relations Office visited the Consul-General of Turkey, Lale Ülker to discuss the education system in Kazakhstan and institutions that may be interested in cooperation opportunities.  The Office then attended the Republic Day Reception held at the Consulate, representing Sabancı University.
