The 3rd successful implementation of the NGO Internship Program

Sabancı University Civic Involvement Projects (CIP) and Citibank cooperated for the NGO Internship Program, implementing an initiative maintained by the Citi Foundation in the United States for 30 years for the third time in Turkey.

The closing ceremony for the third NGO Internship Program was held at the Karaköy Communication Center on Sunday, October 24th.  Certificates were handed out to participants.

Attending the ceremony were various NGOs that took part in the internship program, including The Education Volunteers of Turkey, the Foundation for Promoting Counseling in Higher Education, Make a Wish, and WWF.  Program evaluation and certificate presentations were conducted in a friendly atmosphere with approximately 50 participants.  Both interns and NGOs noted that they found the program to be very effective, which marked the successful completion of the third year in the program.

Following the presentation of certificates and symbolic pomegranates by CIP and NGO executives, the program continued with a cocktail, giving NGOs and their former interns an opportunity to reunite.

The internship program provides students with NGO work experience during their summer holidays, while also contributing to the development of the host institutions.  Students gain a closer working knowledge of the activities and processes of NGOs, and find career opportunities in NGOs.

333 students from 39 universities applied this year
The third NGO Internship Program received 333 applications from 39 universities, 88 of whom were accepted.  Students were given the chance to state their NGO preferences, and were admitted to one of their three NGO choices among the 25 NGOs cooperated with this year for a one-month internship program
