Sabancı University Drama Club members will go on a tour of Anatolia with their new children’s play “Düşler Bahçesi – The Garden of Dreams.” Bringing together civic involvement with theater, the ensemble will perform for children in Kayseri, Adana and Hatay who have never seen a play before.
Sabancı University Drama Club “SUOyuncuları” will perform their new children’s play “Düşler Bahçesi-The Garden of Dreams” for children in Kayseri, Adana and Hatay between the 23rd and 28th of January, 2011. Aiming to go where no drama ensemble has gone before, the students will perform three times a day and reach approximately 6000 children, leaving them with fond memories.
To SUOyuncuları, their project brings together civic involvement and a branch of art: “There are millions of adults and children who have never seen a play, in Istanbul as well as all across Anatolia. We want to show children what kind of an art drama is, and to reach them with our play. We realized that such projects were few across Turkey, so we decided to perform in various provinces of Anatolia. We will show everyone what a university drama club is capable of, and what benefits it could bring. We will have reached children in various cities and created a different experience for them.”
Schedule: The ensemble will start the tour on January 23rd, perform in Kayseri on the 24th and 25th, in Adana on the 26th and in Hatay on the 27th, and return to Istanbul on the 28th.
The project involves 8 members of SUOyuncuları, who are engineering, economics and social sciences students, and is sponsored by Ayhanlar Holding. In the future, the project may expand to other regions and provinces.
