Sabancı University among the greenest in the world

Sabancı University among the greenest in the world

Sabancı University ranked 144th in the third "UI Green Metric Ranking" issued by the University of Indonesia.  The only other Turkish university on the list was Bilkent University in 209th place.

The aim of the global ranking project is to combat global climate change by reducing carbon footprints of universities.

Each university is assessed on “Setting and Infrastructure,” “Energy and Climate Change,” “Waste,” “Water,” “Transportation” and “Education” to determine their carbon footprints.  The ranking provides an overview of policies related to green campus and sustainability in the universities all over the world.
It is expected that by drawing the attention of university leaders and stake holders, more attention will be given to combating global climate change, energy and water conservation, waste recycling, and green transportation.

Based on the pillars of environment, economy and justice, the ranking is expected to require change of behavior and draw more attention to economic and social problems related to sustainability.
