Get ready to discover the new Sabancı University website with a brand new appearance and a more user-friendly interface.
Why did we need a new website?
At the Sabancı University Marketing and Institutional Communication and IT Departments, we defined our needs before designing the website in cooperation with GrafikaSU, our in-house graphic design agency.
First, we picked a random sample among the visitors of our website, taking into account different visitor profiles. We had face-to-face meetings and in-depth interviews with 36 people from the sample, and an online meeting with a further 16. With the use of a special method analyzing visitor behavior, researchers had the opportunity to observe visitor behavior while participants browsed through the website. The key objective of the study was to collectively find an answer to the question of what kind of a new website Sabancı University needed. We observed visitors, asked them questions about their use of the website, and solicited comments.
We compiled the results of our in-depth interviews and found out that the priority for our visitors was simpler, more streamlined navigation on the home page. So we emphasized ease of use when designing our new website, and made sure that the homepage would direct visitors to the page they needed as quickly as possible.
Another preference of our visitors was that they wanted to see the differences and achievements of the university in a more prominent position with better visuals. We thought about putting in a larger “window” on our website. This means that achievements, inspiring stories and the hot issues of the university can be viewed in a single window with better, custom graphics.
Another visitor suggestion –one that we wholly agree with– was an appearance and visual quality that was optimal for mobile devices. Keeping up with the times, we have ensured that our new website is perfectly functional and impressive to look at not just on personal computers, but on smartphones and tablets as well.

We have worked long and hard to design a website that will look its best on any device, have a host of differences for you to discover, and will allow for easier navigation.
